Forty Seventh Day – The nineteenth day of working from home. Work went well. There was more focus, so that was good. However, there wasn’t any Bible Study. Most were weary, and in need of rest. But it should be on next week. Prayer request: that those who need rest would get it.

The Forty Fifth and Forty Sixth Days of Isolation

Forty Fifth and Forty Sixth Days – The tenth and eleventh livestream church services and the eighteenth day of working from home. The morning service was good. Caleb, one of the spies spent by Moses into the Promised Land, being faithful to God and having God’s promise fulfilled to him after 45 years of waiting. Quite topical (given the situation, and I’m still waiting for church to resume meeting in person. But waiting until the right time is important.) The evening service was good too. Even if there were less people than the week before.

(But those who are working would still be busy, including the person I mentioned last week, who works in one of those busier professions.) Even so I did catch up with two other friends whom I hadn’t seen for nearly two months. But more importantly the message from Philippians (about Paul saying ‘To live is Christ’) was excellent. Today, work was good. Helping my nephew with his school work did distract from it a little, but not too much.

- In Earthly life, Paul (and we) have one priority - to give way to Christ.

Defending the gospel.

He's still preaching the Gospel in prison.
Paul is in it because the only joyful life is from making Jesus the focus of one's life.

Challenge
To live is Christ - Are we pursuing the goal as Paul did?

In Relationship with Him. Nothing else compares.
To live is Christ.
To die is gain.
Do you do all you can to spread the Word?

Caleb believed the Israelites could take the land, because he remembered that the Lord had brought them out of Egypt and supported them in the desert. He applied the lessons of God's faithfulness in the past to the challenges he faced each day.

The ten unfaithful spies were defeated, but Caleb held onto God's promises.

Fear is a powerful motivator. Israel was paralysed with it but Caleb held onto God's promises.

Perseverence.
Caleb persevered through the 40 years in the wilderness.
Like Caleb each one of us mus persevre and not to give up.

He had a sense of purpose. Those who finish well have a sense of purpose about their life.
vs 14:2, 3

The children of those who were fearful of the inhabitants inherited the land, but they didn't.

Humility
There is no hint of a rivalry between Joshua and Caleb. Either his pride wasn't injured, or he had dealt with it in the course of the 40 years. He accepted God's timing for his reward. He waited for God's promises to be fulfilled.

Deal with pride.

Esteem of a Dragon Trainer

The blue cart moved along the village trail. “Girls, I just want you to know your mother and I realise it’s not easy moving to a whole new island, especially for you, Daria, right?”

Daria looked around at the Viking houses, along with the strange large perches nearby each house. “Did we move?”

Jake, her father, laughed. “I’m just saying you don’t make friends as easily as… uh. Some people.”

The girl sitting in front with her father, started humming louder.

“Quinn for instance,” Daria said.

“That’s not what I meant,” Jake said. He gave a look of annoyance at Quinn, who stopped her humming. “I mean the first day at a new academy is bound to be difficult.”

Daria then hummed louder then Quinn had. “Speak up, Dad! Can’t hear you!”

“Uh!” Jake said.

Daria stopped humming as she noticed the cart had reached it’s destination on a cliff overseeing the freezing ocean.

“Where was I,” Jake asked as he pulled on the reigns of the… animal pulling the cart. “Don’t get upset if it takes the other kids a little while to warm up to you.”

Quinn got off the cart and was immediately met by two other girls and hit it off instantly.

“I’ll try to help her through this difficult period of adjustment.”

“That’s my girl! Wait a minute.”

“See you, Dad,” Daria said as she got off the cart and headed into the Academy.

Daria and Quinn entered an area that looked like an arena, where the one in charge of the Academy would meet them. Daria could make out two others there, but they were not close enough for her to see their faces clearly. She always had difficulty seeing in the distance, but it seemed to be getting worse. “Come on, Daria,” Quinn said impatiently.

“Daria and Quinn?” the male of the two asked.

“Yes, I’m Daria.” She stepped forward and could see his green eyes clearly.

“I’m Quinn.”

“You may call me Hiccup. Welcome to Berk’s one and only Dragon Training Academy.”

Quinn was uncomfortable. Stacy had just dressed just like she had. “What are you wearing?”

“What do you want me to wear?” Stacy asked.

“And what’s that?” Quinn asked. Stacy was acting weird.

“I thought we could color our hair the same shade,” Stacy suggested.

She could she Quinn thinking. “Um, are you sure that’s a good idea,” she finally said, with her nervous giggle. Stacy loved that giggle.

“Are you saying it won’t suit me?”

“It's okay as long as he don't know about it! Dammit! Where's that purse?” the woman then coughed, fainted and fell to the ground.

“That's not good!” Jennifer said.

“Uh-oh!” Daria uttered.

“Did she hit her head?” Jane asked.

“I don't think so,” Daria said.

“Do either of you know CPR or anything?” Jane asked.

Jennifer nodded. “I do, but has been a while since I did the training.”

“I once gave the Heimlich maneuver to Quinn,” Daria said.

“Did it work?” Jane asked.

“She wasn't choking,” Daria said.

'Quinn hasn't told me about anything like that!' Jennifer thought. It was more evidence of angstier than usual sibling rivalry.

“We should be doing something now. I'm sure of it,” Jane said.

“Yeah, I think you're right,” Daria said.

“Help me move her into the recovery position,” Jennifer said, as she stooped down. 'I have to do something!'

Daria and Jane shrugged and also stooped down to help Jennifer. This coincided with the woman returning to consciousness.

“What are you doing!?” she demanded.

“Moving you into the recovery position, but since you are now conscious, there's no need,” Jennifer said.

The woman stood up. “Damn hyperglycemia. I'm sorry, girls, I'm holding up the works. Okay, now, how much apiece on those chocolate bars?”

“Ma'am, I'm not sure I can sell you any chocolate bars,” Daria said.

“I'm afraid that I have to agree with her,” Jennifer said. 'She just fainted from Hyperglycemia and she still wants the chocolate bars!?!

“What's the matter? My money's not good enough for you?”

“It's not that, it's just... maybe it's not such a good idea,” Daria said.

“The reason should be obvious!” Jennifer projected.

“Give me those chocolate bars!” the woman shouted.

“Thank you for the offer though, ma'am, and for caring about the students of Lawndale High,” Jane said.

“We could call your doctor or the hospital if you like,” Jennifer said.

“Otherwise, we'll be going!” Daria said. The teens walked away to go to the next house.

“I don't need a damn doctor, I need a damn chocolate bar! Gimme! I'll pay ya five bucks apiece!” the woman offered.

“Have a nice day, ma'am,” Daria said.

“Come back here!”

As the teens approached the obese woman's next door neighbor's house they reflected on the situation.

“Five dollars apiece. We would've made over a hundred bucks,” Jane considered.

'At the cost of her life!' Jennifer thought.

“Yeah, and all we had to do was take a human life,” Daria said.

“You always see the downside, don't you?” Jane asked.

“In this case, yes,” Jennifer said.

“Certainly,” Jane said.

Jennifer knocked on the door. 'I hope that this person isn't like the other one,' she thought.

“I'll say that is a successful afternoon, Quinn,” Cindy said.

“Yeah, definitely,” Quinn said.

“We definitely make a good team,” Kristen said.

“One more house, before the sun goes down,” Quinn said.

“Sure,” Kristen said, as they turned from Pinewood Road into Glen Oaks Lane. 'It has definitely been a successful afternoon.'

As they went towards the house on the corner of those two streets, they noticed that Kevin and Brittany were also approaching that house. 'This could be a problem,' Kristen thought.

“Hi, popular brains, you are fund-raising for the coffeehouse too?” Kevin asked, as he and Brittany came up.

“Of course they are, Kevie!” Brittany said.

“Yes, we are,” Quinn said.

“Cool!” Kevin said.

“We were about to go and sell at that house. Would you like to join us?” Kristen asked.

“Sure!” Brittany said.

“Um, Okay,” Kevin said.

“Very cool!” Cindy said.

The three geeks, the quarterback and cheerleader then went to sell their wares to the family in that house.

On that note, Sandi then said that she wants to use the Coffee House as a venue for the destruction of quote 'The Geekendorffer's popularity' end quote. I have to warn Quinn somehow, but I don't know her email address! I hope I will be able to find it out tomorrow...

Ms. Li entered her office and immediately the phone began to ring. “Who could this be, that can barely wait to call Lawndale High?” she asked. She picked up the phone. She was immediately blasted by some ranting.

“Calm down, and repeat what you just said!”

“I said, that three girls from your school came around yesterday afternoon selling chocolates for a new coffee house, but they suddenly didn't sell me that chocolate, despite the fact that I eventually offered twice the value!”

'That is serious!' The principal thought. “I see. Do you have a name I can refer to in my investigation of this matter?” she asked.

“Mrs. Iris Johansen.”

“Thank you. Can you describe these students?”

“Yes, they were very distinctive. One wore her blonde hair over one side of her face and a dark jacket with a red skull on the back.”

Ms. Li wrote; Burns.

“The second one had long auburn hair, big round glasses and a green jacket.”

Ms. Li wrote; Morgendorffer, D. 'I can see that she is becoming a troublemaker. Too bad she left that self esteem class.'

“The last had short black hair, although her eyes were blue, she wore a red jacket.” Mrs. Johansen concluded.

Ms. Li wrote; Lane. “Thankyou, I will talk to the three students involved! Make no mistake, Mrs. Johansen, I take matters like these very seriously.”

“Thank you,” Mrs. Johansen said prior to hanging up.

'Now I have to deal with this impertinence!' Ms. Li thought as she put the phone down.
