Excerpt from: A Fair of Change

Angela took in the information the Cheerleader had just given her. The Library roof? Falling in? That definitely wasn’t good. “Was anyone else there?”

“I don’t think so,” Brittany answered, as she twirled a pigtail. That was an annoying habit.

“I’ll find someone to check,” Angela said.

It was the next day that Brittany found that the library roof falling in had more consequences than the library being closed for repairs. Her Language Arts class was interrupted…

“Now, why do you think it is that Tolstoy felt he had to make War and Peace so darned... unpleasant? Daria?” Mr. O’Neill asked.

It still looked uninhabited. But most island cultures they had found didn’t really use their beaches. “We will have to land.”

Excerpt from: Convergence on Lawndale

Daria, Quinn and Peter arrived at the school. “You go and meet your friends,” Peter said. “While I sign in.”

“Of course,” Quinn said.

“There she is,” Daria said, seeing Jane Lane approaching from the Parking Lot.

“What’s happening, Amiga?” Jane asked.

“The Doctor, again,” Daria answered.

That was all Jane needed to know. “Gotcha.”

Daria then filled her in on what was happening, including the portal to Middleton.

“I see,” Jane said when Daria had finished.

“We need to look out for unusual activity.”

“Of course.”

Quinn met her friends. “Quinn!”

Excerpt from: An Underwater Meeting

Police tape was strung around the entrance. ‘What happened,’ she wondered. She saw one of her colleagues nearby. She went over to her. “Ranae? Do you know what happened?”

Ranae shook her head. “All they said was that someone was dead,” she said sadly. “They wouldn’t say who it was.”

“Oh!” Muriel said, in slight shock. Was it a murder? Why would someone kill in their small town? “That’s not good.” She sighed

The TARDIS landed, but the Doctor was worried. The landing seemed a bit ‘off’. “Strange,” he commented. He turned on the Scanner. “Underwater?” That was unusual. It was rare that the TARDIS landed underwater on her own volition. There was always a reason.

She materialised aboard the Calgary.

Report,” Alpha ordered.

“I'm fine. Octavius knocked me off the building,” Nina reported.

Are you sure you want to do what you're doing?” Alpha asked with concern.

“Yes!” Nina said, although she wasn't entirely sure. “Beam me back.”

Wait a moment, Spider-Man and Octavius have fallen off the building.

“Beam me close to the hostage.”

Energizing!”

Nina materialised and then smashed the window, startling the older lady. “It's OK,” she said holding her hand out. The lady grabbed onto the offered hand. Nina then helped the lady through the window. But not quickly enough.

Understood.”

“I recommend slowing to Warp 2 as we approach.”

“We'll hit them in two minutes, Captain,” Paris reported after the information was transferred to the Conn.

“Slow to Warp 2 in one minute, forty seconds. Mark.”

“Aye,” Paris said.

Voyager slowed as she approached the divergences.

“Warp 2,” Paris reported.

“Steady as she goes,” Janeway ordered.

Clara was still in the Mess Hall, waiting for something to happen. She would have been almost as bored as the Doctor if not for the fact that she had introduced Naomi Wildman to the joys of Regency literature. 'Great! Now I'm missing Jane!'

Flashback – Two weeks earlier

“I can read it from the PADD, Clara,” Naomi protested.

“Nonetheless, reading it from a screen is not the same as reading from a hardcopy,” Clara explained as she finished putting the instructions into the replicator. “It's also worth a lot more than the rations.” She pressed another control and the book appeared in the slot.

Naomi grabbed it. “This cover art is rather good,” she said.

“I had to choose the best,” Clara said. “A good book can last a lifetime.”

“That sounds good,” Naomi said.

“So, you can read out the first couple of pages.”

“Sure,” Naomi said. “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife...”

End flashback

Naomi was still going through the various works of Austin. Clara could see her talking to Neelix about where she was up to in Emma.
