It goes without saying, that there would be those who dislike Dewey's long tenure as POTUS. That there would be those who would want his removal. For instance, there are any members of Congress looking for any context in his dealings that would allow them to call for his impeachment. Of course, impeachment isn't the only way a President of the United States would be removed from office. There are also many who would want to assassinate him!
Of course, Assassination is impossible, due to the high level of security that the Secret Service provides about Dewey's person. It is certainly impossible to plant bombs on any motorcades that the President would be riding in (or on any road along which such motorcades would be driving). While there would be those attempting Dewey's assassination, they wouldn't succeed, no matter if they were under hire by any member of Congress wishing for Dewey's impeachment or not.
Speaker of the House, Joseph P. Kennedy, resigns in mid-April, after many major newspapers publish damning allegations of corruption about him. First the Washington Post. But then the Boston Globe. Then the New York Times. He denies the allegations that the Post publishes, and those by the Globe. Then when the Times publishes their allegations, he accuses his political enemies (of which there are many) of making spurious accusations.
However, as more papers (and radio stations and television networks) continue to publish stories that corroborate the earlier stories, calls for his resignation from the Speakership increase. Eventually he has no choice and resigns.

Psalm 51
A Lightbulb moment for David.
Background - David had committed adultery with Bathsheba and had Uriah killed. (2 Samuel 11. 12)
God - He is the same today, yesterday and forever
David recognised this. He threw himself on the LORD's covenental love, His steadfast love. He had recognised God's heart.
David
- Sees that he has a repentant heart.
- His sin was against God
- So it is with us. Our sin is against God.
Reconciliation - It needs to happen, but verbal repentance is necessary. Spoken words have power.
He needed to be purified of the sin he had. Old Testament Law.
But there is a difference - There is no high priest. God is holding the hyssop.
David recognised that we should have a heart of praise. This lead to a heart of truth - that the Law wasn't enough for Salvation. He recognised that God didn't want empty religion. That He was looking at the heart.
He was after a broken, contrite heart
Luke 21:1-4
Jesus recognised that the poor widow gave much more than the rich rulers.
We need a lightbulb moment.
- A heart of repentance.
- A heart of praise (Nothing can separate you from the love of a steadfast God)
- A heart of truth
1 Corinthians 11:27 - 32
We need to examine ourselves, and bring those sins to the cross.
We need a heart of worship - A heart overflowing with everything God has done for you. It is not about going through the motions.
