Doctor Who - The Return of Doctor Mysterio Review

Doctor Who - The Return of Doctor Mysterio Review
The 2016 Christmas special, introducing a 'superhero' into the Doctor Who universe. An interesting story, but it wasn't executed as well as it could have been. However, that doesn't mean it wasn't enjoyable. The fact that it follows up on the previous Christmas special (in that it is acknowledged that the Doctor is missing River Song) is appreciated. More on that later. The teaser, where Grant gains his powers via the Doctor's misunderstanding, is well done.
It leads well into the rest of the episode. Harmony Shoal is an interesting group of villains, but I don't think their plan was well thought through. I wouldn't think that the world's leaders would go to their local Harmony Shoal, rather than their own bunkers. They'd be suspicious of why Harmony Shoal New York survived when the rest of the City didn't. So their plan would fail right there. Of course the Doctor had to save New York (with Grant's help), it would be uncharacteristic if he didn't.
.Of course, that's not everything that this episode involves. There is also Grant and Lucy's interaction. (I could call it a relationship, but I'm not sure what that would imply about other interactions, including real life ones.) Certainly, the fact that Lucy is oblivious is reflective of the inspiration provided by a certain DC Comics property, but it doesn't work as well here. She seems to spend a lot more time with Grant than Lois does with Clark. The resolution at the end works, but not as well as it should.
There's not much to say about Nardole. He seems to be helping the Doctor not to be alone, but I'll have to wait for the upcoming Series to be sure if he works as a Companion or not. Overall it is a good episode, but far from the best. 8/10.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Preliminary)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Preliminary)
(Note: Watched before Christmas)
A film set in the 'Galaxy Far Far Away', leading into Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, telling the story of how the plans for the first Death Star ended up in the hands of Princess Leia. The tale of Jyn, who joins the the rebels to investigate a message from her father, an Imperial weapons designer, is rather tragic, but the story is well told, and fits into the larger Star Wars universe. 8.5/10.

52 Tales of 2016 - Mysteries of the Defiant - Alt Hour 22

Twenty-second Hour.
Kate McCallister (Home Alone)
Kate awoke. She had fallen asleep on the plane that she had taken from Dallas, to... was it somewhere in Pennsylvania? She stood up. This wasn't the plane. Where was she. “Where am I?” She wondered, her heart racing. Had someone taken her off the plane and put her here, wbereever the 'here' was? Had someone found Kevin at home and taken him, and now had her here too? But something was wrong with that supposition. Wouldn't they have been guarding her. There was another thing, she was very hungry...
Of course that was a given, with all the jetsetting she was doing trying to get back to Chicago. She started walking down the corridor, which seemed to remind her of that new Star Trek series (which both Linnie and Kevin seemed to like)...

Intruder Alert!” the computer said. “Human female, Deck 2, outside Engineering.”

“Understood,” Sisko said. “Ms. Pine, you shall meet this new arrival and bring her to the bridge.”

“Yes, Captain,” Kim said.

Greg turned as he saw someone enter Engineering. It was a woman with shoulderlength bright red hair. “What is this?” she asked, looking around with her eyes wide.

“This is Engineering,” Greg said.

“Like Star Trek?” she asked.

“Exactly like Star Trek,” Greg answered. The woman looked familiar, as if he had seen her in a movie he had seen many times.

Kate wasn't sure what to believe. This boy, about Buzz's age, must have been lying. “How could it be Star Trek? It's just a story!” But then she wouldn't have believed that she would have left her youngest son home alone, while she went to France, either. She then saw something near that tank, thing' in the centre of the room. “R2D2? But he's from Star Wars.” The apparent 'droid' beeped, sounding exactly like Star Wars. She fainted.

Kim entered Engineering to see Ashoka and Greg carrying the woman out, meeting them at the door. “What happened?” she asked.

“She fainted,” Greg answered.

“It must have been a great shock!” Kim said. “Let's get her to sickbay.”

“Sure,” Greg said.

“Pine to Sisko, meet us in Sickbay...”

Kate awoke again, and saw a bald man wearing a blue uniform of some sort leaning over her. She sat upright. “What's going on?” She looked to her right, and saw someone who looked like Donald Trump, and a guy who looked like some kind of reptile, being held in what looked like a cage made of blue bones...

“This may sound strange,” an African-American man with a goatee and wearing a uniform similar to the other man. “But you are now on a starship, approximately twenty light years from Earth.”

A spaceship, twenty lightyears from Earth? “That's impossible!”

“Not impossible, just very unlikely. I'm Captain Benjamin Sisko. What's your name.”

“Kate McCallister.”

“Welcome aboard the USS Defiant, Kate.” Captain Sisko paused, then said. “Computer, identify character. Kate McCallister.”

“Character?” Kate asked.

Affirmative,” a voice came out of no where.

'Definitely, like Star Trek,' Kate thought.

Kate McCallister, the mother of Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone films,” the computer said.

Some thoughts connected in Kate's mind. “So, I'm on a starship, like the Enterprise, and you think I'm from a series of movies?”

“That is essentially it. Everyone aboard this ship is from a reality which is fictional to at least someone else. For nearly the past day, a different person has appeared very hour,” Sisko said.

Kate thought for a moment. “So, more people will come. But it's unlikely that I would see Kevin, or the rest of my family again.”

“We're heading towards Earth. We hope that we'll find answers there,” Sisko said.

Kate nodded. “I need to think.”

“Sure,” Sisko said. “But, you're welcome to come to the Mess Hall, where most of the people currently are.”

“Sure,” Kate said.

Of course, Trump remembered his cameo in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, as such he recognised Kate as soon as she was brought in. He was also reconsidering his 'alliance' with Dukat, given what Sisko had been saying...

Gifts of Christmas
Hope
Luke 1:46 - 55
Isaiah 7:1 - 16
Gift of Hope
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul
For some, Christmas is a duty, not a delight.

Isaiah 7:1 - 17
We need to put our hope in Him, rather than in any human solution. Ahaz chose the latter. He didn't take a step of faith.

Isaiah 7:14
An immediate answer - the situation that Ahaz was worried about would be gone.

Matthew 1:23
God is beside us in hard times.

A hope that is yet to be completed. He will come again. God's ultimate work will be achieved.
He will achieve His work in you and the world. We can be confident as we look to His Return.

For the Present, we have hope as an anchor in the storms of life.
For the Future, hope of Jesus' return. His rule will bring justice and righteousness.

Luke 1:26 - 38
It took faith for Mary to respond to God's plan for her. Jesus' coming changes everything.
The anchor allows us to move forward in faith.

Don't leave the gift of hope unwrapped.

52 Tales of 2016: Ways Clara Oswald... (5)

A Not so old friend
Clara considered what Rump had said. She went to talk to Rigsy.
“You're serious?” he asked. “You actually expect me to give you my death sentence?”

Clara shushed him. She didn't want the Doctor to know. “Go on. I've always wanted a tatoo. You know, something small, discreet,” she joked.

“Clara, cut it out!”

“Weren't you listening? I'm under the mayor's personal protection. And it's absolute apparently. Look, she controls the Raven, so I will never have to face it. This is clever,” Clara said.

“But this is putting you in danger,” Rigsy objected.

“No, this is us talking the opposition in their own trap,” Clara returned. “This is Doctor 101. We're buying time. We get all of the aliens on our side in the next half an hour, and then we reveal I've got the chronolock, not you, and boom! We buy ourselves time to find the real killer.”

“The Doctor would never let you do this,” Rigsy objections.

“Doctor 102. Never tell anyone your actual plan. He'll have a tantrum when he finds out. And then, when we confront Ashildr, she'll want the chronolock off just to shut him up,” Clara paused. “What happens if you don't go home tonight to Jen and Lucy, eh? If you never go home? You really want your little girl growing up without a father just because he wouldn't take a risk? You trusted us to save you, so trust us. Come on.”

“Okay. All right. Right, how do we do this, then?”

“Well, I was kind of hoping that would be it. I say I want it, you say, you can have it. You know, done deal. Hey, turn around, let me see.”

Rigsy turned around. Then they heard someone call out, “Wait!” very close by.

Clara turned and saw a young looking man nearby. “What?”

“The Quantum Shade doesn't work that way!” the man said. He had an American accent.

“And you know this how?” Clara asked. “Who are you?”

“An old friend of the Doctor's,” he answered. “I have had experiences with these things before,”

“How do I know that you are who you say you are.”

“You just have to trust me,” the mysterious man said.

Clara was going to object, but something told her that he was telling the truth about being an old friend of the Doctor's. “You say that the Quantum Shade doesn't work that way. What do you mean?” she asked.

“If it's taken off Mr. Riggins here, the Shade's contract with Lady Me would be broken. She would not be able to take it off.”

“So you're saying that if I took it, that I would then die?” Clara asked.

“That's exactly what I am saying.”

“I'm willing to take the risk! The Doctor can come up with a way to stop it.”

“I'm sorry Clara, but the Doctor doesn't always save the people close to him.”

“You know my name, but I don't know yours.”

“You can call me Jack.”

“Jack. How do I know what you are saying is true?”

“We're wasting time here,” Rigsy said. “And how did you know my name?”

“The same way I know Clara's,” Jack answered Rigsy. He then answered Clara's question. “You will just have to trust me.”

“Then what would we do?”

“I will take it,” Jack answered.

“Wouldn't you die instead?” Clara asked.

“That is what I am willing to face,” Jack said darkly.

There was something that told Clara that Jack had something up his sleeve, that would allow him to survive, where she wouldn't. She wasn't able to define it... “Go ahead then,” she said.

“Wait!” Rigsy said.

“It's either you or me,” Jack said to Rigsy. “Trust me.”

“Are you sure?” Rigsy asked.

“What did I just tell Clara?”

“That you're willing to face death?” Rigsy asked.

“Yes,” Jack said.

And, as with Clara, there was something that told Rigsy that Jack thought he would somehow survive. “Right, do it then.” He turned around.

Soon, the tattoo was on Jack's neck instead of Rigsy's. The Raven cawed.

“I'll find her, I'll find the key,” Anahson said.

“No, Anahson, stay here,” the Doctor said. “There's a reason that the Mayor's gone AWOL. She means for us to release your mother, but she doesn't want us to use her key. She wants to use mine.”
He held up his TARDIS key.

“The TARDIS, that's what this is about,” Clara said.

The Doctor, then started to unlock the stasis chamber.

“Doctor, wait!” Clara called out.

“This girl needs her mother,” the Doctor said. He then cried out. He pulled his arm out with his other arm and found thata bracelet had been firmly clamped upon his forearm.

Rigsy and Anahson caught Anah as she fell.

“Mum, Mum, are you okay?”

“She'll be perfectly fine in a few moment, I assure you.” Ashildr had arrived.

“There are easier ways to steal a key, you know,” the Doctor said.

“I don't want your TARDIS,” Ashildr said. “That's not what this is about. Rigsy, come here. I'll remove your chronolock.”

“What is this, Ashildr? You can't possibly think this is going to keep me here.”

“It's not a restraint. It's a teleport bracelet.”

“What?” Clara asked.

“I'll give you time to say goodbye, don't worry. No one will be hurt,” Ashildr explained.

“Where are you sending me?” the Doctor asked.

“I made a deal to protect the Street. They take you. I take the key so you can't be traced. I do as they tell me and Street is safe.”

“They?” the Doctor asked. “Who are they?”

“One more thing. Your confession dial. They have other means of procuring it, but I understand it's likely on your person. Please, no resistance. You've already lost.”

The Doctor handed the confession dial to Ashildr.

“What is it?” Ashildr asked.

“In your terms, my last will and testament,” the Doctor answered.

“How does it work?” Ashildr asked.

“I've no idea,” the Doctor said.

“Well, thank you anyway,” Ashildr said. She put the confession dial on a mantlepiece. “Rigsy, your neck.”
“I don't have it!” Rigsy said, he turned around, showing that he didn't have it.

“Who has it?” the Doctor asked. “Clara?”

“She doesn't have it!” Jack's voice intruded upon the procedings.

Ashildr turned in the direction of his voice. “You!” she said with more than a hint of hostility.

“Relax, Lady Me. I'm not here on Torchwood business,” Captain Jack Harkness said. He turned around, showing that he was the one with the chronolock.

“Jack? What are you doing?” the Doctor asked.

“Better me than Clara,” the Jack said.

“You're about to run out of time,” Ashildr said dangerously.

“What do you mean?” the Doctor asked, Jack.

“Clara was going to take the Chronolock off Rigsy,” Jack answered.

“Why am I not surprised,” the Doctor said. “We're going to have a serious talk.”

“You haven't time, Doctor,” Ashildr said.

“Why not?” the Doctor asked.

“Time is almost up, and after the contract is fulfilled, they will take you.”

“Who are they?” the Doctor asked.

“They promised not to interefere with the Street, if they could take you.”

“And once I come back, this street will be over.”

“No it won't. Clara isn't dying.”

“No, she isn't. But for Jack's intervention, she could have.”

“Stop! Doctor!” Jack said.

“No, This place shouldn't be here. It wasn't here before I landed in a Viking village and saved a young storyteller. Overall history is the same, but some details are different. Once upon a time, there was no Torchwood, now there is. And you remember what happened with the Master, 'The Year that never was'. This Street would have put a major kink in the Master's plan to be sure.”

“Now you're just ranting,” Clara said.

The Raven cawed.

“It's time,” Ashildr said, waving off what the Doctor just said.

“I'm ready,” Jack said to the Raven.

The Raven launched itself from the perch. It approached Jack, then penetrated him. He cried out in pain, such terrible pain, and then collapsed...

“There, he's dead,” Ashildr said simply.

The Doctor gave her a shot of annoyance, just before he was teleported away.

Ashildr turned to Clara and Rigsy. “You have to leave now!” She said.

“I don't want to stay any longer anyway,” Clara said.

There was a breath behind her. Jack stood up! “How?” Ashildr asked, in shock.

“I'm a fact of the universe, Lady Me. It would take more than a Quantum Shade to put me out of commission.” He walked up to Clara and Rigsy. “Are you ready to leave the Street?”

“What just happened?” Rigsy asked.

“It was Rose, wasn't it?” Clara asked.

“Time to leave!” Ashildr interupted.

“Good thing I have this,” Jack said to Clara, pointing to his vortex manipulator.

“I've used one,” Clara said, as Jack activated it.

They found themselves outside the Street, next to the TARDIS. “Seriously, what's happening?” Rigsy asked. “How did you come back from the dead?”

“It's complicated,” Jack answered.

“And how did we leave the Street?”

“Vortex Manipulator. Like a space hopper, compared to the Sports Car,” Jack said, pointing to the TARDIS.

“So it's a time machine,” Rigsy stated.

“Yes,” Jack said. “What will you do now?” he asked Clara.

“I will take the TARDIS, and look for the Doctor.”

“You can fly the TARDIS?” Jack asked.

“Not well, but I can,” Clara said.

“I see. I would like to learn more, Clara, but I have to get back to Cardiff,” Jack said. He activated the vortex manipulator again and vanished.

“I'm going to look for the Doctor now,” Clara said to Rigsy.

The Christ Powered Life
Romans 8: 28 - 39
We Are More Than Conquerers
The world is uncertain. But in Christ we are in a secure position.
God works
He is working all around us, in all aspects of our lives.
He works for the good of those who love Him.
- His priority isn't our comfort, but our character development.
Who have been been called according to His Purpose
vs 29
God has decided that He would mould us to be more like Jesus.
God is for us. We may feel insecure in our faith, but the cross isn't fragile.  We can't sin so much that God can't forgive us. What Jesus has done can't be undone.
The questions that Paul asks have no answer.
If God is with us, who can be against us?
There is no power that can overcome us spiritually that has more power than Christ.
It was always God's idea for Jesus to go to the Cross. He has given us the most precious gift.
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen.
God is He who justifies
Who is He that condemns?
Christ Jesus is he who is interceding for us
Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.

52 Tales of 2016 - Alt Mysteries of the Defiant - Hour 20

Twentieth Hour
Commander Helia (Stargate: Atlantis)
Commander Helia had been on Tria as the Asurans were about to destroy it. She now found herself in an unfamiliar place. Was she dead? She certainly hadn't Ascended! She looked around the dimly lit grey corridor she had found herself in. It had the feel of a starship, albeit not one that her people had built. She wondered who built it, and then saw Earth-style numbers on the doors.

A man approached and asked her a question in English. He was carrying some kind of energy weapon. “Take me to your leader,” she said.

He escorted her to a nearby elevator car. “Bridge,” he said.

“Captain Sisko, the new arrival is here,” Mark Watney said. Sisko turned and saw the woman there. The last hour had been stressful. Dukat was up to something, he knew it.

“Captain Benjamin Sisko. What is your name?”

“Helia,” she answered. “A Lantean,” she added.

Sisko didn't know what that refered to. “Computer, identify proper noun 'Lantean'.”

Lantean, the original inhabitants of the City-ship Atlantis in the television series Stargate: Atlantis,” the computer responded.

“Television series?” Helia asked.

“Yes,” Sisko answered. “Every hour a different person appears, from a reality that at least one other person on the ship thinks is fictional.”

“Quite unbelievable,” Helia said.

“Yours is fictional in mine. I don't know about the others,” Sisko said.

“I have heard of a tv series called Stargate,” Watney joined in. “I don't know if it was about Atlantis, though.”

While Sisko and Watney were explaining to Helia about the situation, Dukat entered the Mess Hall. He quickly took in who was there, and how to turn the situation to his advantage. He had already been thinking about that over the past hour.

Although she was beginning to tire, Catwoman was alert. The Captain had told her about this 'Cardassian', some kind of alien dictator, and that he wasn't to be trusted. “What do you want?” she asked, knowing that Weatherwax, at least would back her up.

“What has Sisko told you?” the Cardassian asked.

“That you took advantage of your homeworld's troubles to gain power,” Catwoman answered.

The Cardassian laughed. “Is that what he told you?” He chuckled again. “Oh, Benjamin! Always believing the worst of me. Yes, that is what he believes. But it's not true! Cardassia needed me! Central Command had failed to drive the Klingons away.”

'He sounds delusional,' Catwoman thought. Before she had arrived on the Defiant, She had heard of the Klingons, but not the Cardassians.

“What Sisko may have told you, the data in this ship's computers, is wrong,” the Cardassian continued.

While Dukat was attempting to persuade those in the Mess Hall of his view of Sisko, River became aware of him. “No!” she shouted.

“What's wrong?” the EMH asked.

“Something, evil. Recent arrival. Meglomania,” River said, her hands on her temple. “Worse than Alliance.”

“And you're reading his mind?”

River's expression then gave the EMH no doubt.

While River was aware of Dukat, Dukat knew that there were telepaths on the ship. Central Command trained its soldiers to resist telepathic intrusions. River's scan was more intense, than most, but he was able to resist it. He had earlier brushed off Granny's light touch, and also Ashoka's Force-powered attempt. (Of course, he didn't know that a Jedi, even one who survived Order 66, wouldn't force themselves into anyone's mind, like a Sith wannabee would. Star Wars wasn't among the Terran fiction that Sisko had left in his office while the Station was under Dominion control)
“As I was saying, Ziyal wouldn't be dead if the Federation hadn't launched an offensive to retake Terok Nor from it's rightful owners. Damar wasn't at fault, it was entirely Sisko's.” He could see that most of his audience wasn't paying attention. Maybe that Trump guy would listen, if he could find him. He left the Mess Hall.

“The Cardassian lifesign has left the Mess Hall,” Watney said.

“Keep an eye on him,” Sisko ordered.

“I will,” Watney said. Sisko had earlier showed him how to work the various stations on the Bridge (as well as Daria, Ashoka and Catwoman).

“What are you doing?” Helia asked.

“The person we're tracking is someone I don't trust. He sold out his own civilisation to one even more expansionist.”

“A traitor then?”

“Not only for his civilisation, but also all those around his,” Sisko answered.

“Interesting.”

Trump turned a corner, and met a person who looked like some kind of reptile. “Who are you?” he asked.

“My name is Skrain Dukat. I can help you.”

“How?” Trump asked.

“The Captain, isn't the one you want to be commanding this group of people,” he said.

There was something off about the man, but Trump thought he could be useful...

In Engineering, Ashoka made another connection. “Done,” she said.

“Can we go faster yet?” Greg asked.

“Not yet,” Ashoka answered.

Class 1.08 Review

1.08 The Lost
Ambivalence. That's what I feel about this finale. What was threatened for the last 7 episodes finally happens. The Shadow-kin are wiped out by the expired Rhodians. The effects for the implosion of the Shadow-kin planet are poor compared to that of Vulcan in the first of the Star Trek reboot/Kelvin Timeline movies (really? It's 7 years later!). Then there is the revelation of the nature of the Governors. That is certainly interesting, but it's what leads up to that revelation that would be getting my goat.
Charlie giving in and killing the Shadow-kin? At least it was developed. However, the way it was developed leaves much to be desired. More on that in the overall review. The best parts of the episode were the character moments. The scene where April was playing folk tunes, was rather good. It shows that she has gained confidence in herself and in her music. However the development regarding her at the end of the episode is rather weird, not interesting at all. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Ms. Quill's condition is elaborated upon, but not much comes of it (although more is revealed about Quill culture.) However the real ending, with the nature of the Governors being revealed. I'm not sure why they had Dorothea killed, she could have been developed further in the next series. But their alliance with the Weeping Angels. What would the Weeping Angels get out of it? But it is certainly intriguing. Overall I give this a 8/10.

Star Trek Original Series rewatch & review: The Man Trap: http://fardell34.blogspot.com/2016/12/star-trek-original-series-reviews-man.html

Star Trek: Original Series reviews - The Man Trap

The Man Trap (First aired: September 8th, 1966)
The one that started it all. (Of course, The Cage is the one that started it all, but this is the one that NBC viewers saw first.) The Enterprise stops at M-113 on a routine visit, but quickly discover that something has gone horribly wrong. The episode quickly establishes the characters, particularly Kirk and McCoy. The latter especially, as it is revealed that the Doctor had been romantically involved with Nancy some time in the past. (Before she met Robert.) It is still a senstive area, as he is offended by Darnell's remark about her being identical to someone he had met on Wrigley's Pleasure Planet.
Kirk is established as a capable leader, who looks out for his crew. (Not that it does Darnell, Sturgeon and Green any good.) Spock's nature as a logical Vulcan is also established. Uhura's playful teasing doesn't faze him. (Still, I wonder if their relationship in the Kelvin Timeline was inspired by this moment?) And she's aghast at his unemotional response to the report that a member of the landing party had died. Various crewmembers aboard ship are also established (and are certainly put off by the 'Salt vampire's' imitation of Green. Particularly Rand.)
Part of the role of the Enterprise is established. (Checking up on various Federation outposts.) The suspense as the characters investigate what is happening, is very well realised. The initial reluctance of Crater to cooperate leads well into the later situation. The confrontation on the planet between the Starfleet officers and Crater (after the creature had infiltrated the Enterprise) was well done. Overall, it is an excellent introduction to the series, and the overall setting.

Rating: 8.5/19.

Stardate: 1513.1 – 1513.8

Introductions: Overall setting; USS Enterprise NCC 1701; Kirk, James T.; Spock; McCoy, Leonard H; Uhura, Nyota; Sulu, Hikaru; Rand, Janice; Crater, Robert; M-113;

Deaths: 5 (Nancy Crater, Darnell, Sturgeon, Green and the Creature/'Salt Vampire')

Isaiah 10, 11

Luke 8:22 - 25
The Disciples were more afraid of Jesus than the storm, once it had been commanded to stop.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is God.
None other than God Himself.
Where is your faith?
Always ask 'Who is Jesus?' first. Everything else follows. You will see the Bible as more than a rulebook.
Being Christian is is about what Jesus has done for us. Our faith is in Jesus alone.
Where is your faith?

Class 1.07

1.07 The Metaphysical Engine, or What Quill Did review
Detailing what Quill did while the students were 'detained', this is an interesting episode. But does it hold up? Actually it does. Quill goes through the wringer as she undertakes a mysterious journey. The Headmistress takes her on a journey to obtain the resources needed to remove the parasite from her brain. However, a major question is: what are the Governors up to? Why did they send the headmistress and their shapeshifter prisoner on this perilous quest? Will the question be answered by the next episode?
Another sci-fi reference clash: The parasite is referred to as an 'Arn'. An 'Arn' is also a period of time, equivalent to an hour, in Farscape. However the episode focuses on Miss Quill's journey, in many senses of that word. The headmistress (Dorothea) has some kind of metaphysical engine that the Governors have given her (based on Time Lord technology? There are parallels in the design with the TARDIS). Miss Quill faces the journey with incredulity as they go to places that should be impossible.

(Places generated by belief? Interesting idea, but such has been depicted in the Whoniverse before, and was an important plot point in some Discworld novels. The climax in the Cabinet of Souls shows how determined Quill can be to survive and to get what she wants. It also shows to what lenghs the Governors are prepared to go for whatever their agenda is. The best episode so far. 9.5/10.

Excerpt from: Tales of the Endeavour
“Thank you,” she said.

The ensign handed her a card. It showed her where the quarters were on the station, and information on the station;s amenities. “Let me know if you need anything.”

When Corrina arrived at the assigned quarters, she saw that her personal effects had already bben moved there. The Quartermaster Services were at their efficient best. Nothing was missing, everything was in its place. Her personality traits that had lead to her recent issues were still quite strong. The anxiety about her effects being missplaced vanished. She considered that after that therapy she shouldn't be anxious about it.

 Excerpt from: Caverns of Wingewarra
“So, what other games do we have?” Jonas asked as he placed a chess board on Kara's bench.

“We have Daniel's Holbytla Monopoly, so far,” Kara answered. “As well as my copy of Disney Trivial Pursuit.”

“Daniel would win that,” Jonas said in a slightly playful tone.

“True,” Kara said.

“And a pack of Odie playing cards,” Daniel said, taking the pack out of his pocket, placing it on the Monopoly box.

Agents!
There was a loud knock on the door. Quite strange given that Kara had a doorbell. “Someone's there,” she said.

“I'll go,” Xanthe said.

“OK,” Kara said.

Xanthe answered the door. “Hi, you realise there is a doorbell, right?”

“Is this Kara Hendrickson's house?” a man asked.

“Who is asking,” Xanthe asked. Despite it being night time he was wearing sunglasses.

The man produced a card. “Agent J. Brown. Commonwealth Detection Agency,” he said.

“I haven't heard of this CDA,” Xanthe said.

Inside, Kara was listening. “CDA! Crap!” she said, with a fearful expression on her face.

“What is it?” Leigh asked.

“A government agency,” Kara whispered. “I was involved with them in university. Something to take up the extra time.” she shed a tear.

“We're not really public,” the Agent said.

“Secret you mean,” Xanthe said. She could hear Kara tell Leigh more about what she had experienced.

“Secret, but legit,” the agent said.

“I don't care, Kara doesn't want to see you.”

“So, she is here,” the agent said.

“Oops!” Xanthe said. She slammed the door closed and locked it.

“You did your best,” Kara said, as Xanthe re-entered the kitchen.

“But I told them that you're here.”

“They would have figured that out anyway,” Kara pointed out. “How many are there?”

“Three, that I could see,” Xanthe answered.

“A difficult, but not impossible,” Kara said.

“Kara?” Daniel said.

“They can be dislodged,” Kara said.

“How?” Xanthe asked.

“The augmentations, that's how,” Kara declared.

Daniel knew what she was talking about, but he wasn't sure the others knew. “Good idea, Kara,” he said.

“We could escape that way, sure,” Xanthe said.

“What are these augmentations?” Sophia asked.

“I'll show you,” Kara said. She opened a panel next to the refrigerator, and pressed one of the buttons there. Part of the kitchen floor slid aside, showing a staircase leading downwards into a basement below.

“Interesting,” Sophia said. “You're a lady of surprises.”

“It's not a good thing,” Kara said under her breath.

Daniel nodded.

“But how does this help against those agents?” Ella asked.

Excerpt from: The Many Doctors: Chapter 35
This is facinating. Sattelite Five contains every piece of information within the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire. Birth Certificates, shopping habits, bank statements, but you three, you don't exist. No birth, no job, not the slightest kiss. How can you walk through the world and not leave a single footprint?”

Rose tried to gain Suki's attemption.

What have you done to her?” Felicia asked, after Rose failed to do so.

I think she's dead,” the Doctor said.

She's working,” Rose pointed out.

That doesn't mean she's alive,” Felicia said.

They've all got chips in their head, and the chips keep going, like puppets,” the Doctor said.

Oh, you're full of information,” the Editor said. “But it's only fair we get some information back, because apparently, you're no one. It's rare not to know something.”

Why is this happening?” McDonnell asked.

Stay here!” The Doctor said. “I mean it this time! Jump start those engines!” He left.

Felicia and Riley are stuck in an escape pod,” the Doctor said. “Be ready to help,” the Doctor said.

Understood,” Martha said.

Jettison held,” the computer said, after Riley put in a sequence.

Thank you,” Riley said.

Jettison reactivated,” the computer said.

That didn't help!” Felicia said with frustration.

There are more where that came from,” Riley said, trying to put confidence into his voice. He and Ashton fought it out via the keypads.

The Doctor arrived in Area 17. “That's enough! What do you want? Why this ship? Tell me.

Unknown to all the TASIS agents working at cross purposes, a figure slipped out of Deakin carrying another, smaller figure... They had failed.

James returned to the Austin Main Room, fifteen minutes after talking to Tasha. “Tasha is helping the Marie Greeners,” he said to Kristia.
