52 Tales of 2016 - Mysteries of the Defiant - Alt Hour 22

Twenty-second Hour.
Kate McCallister (Home Alone)
Kate awoke. She had fallen asleep on the plane that she had taken from Dallas, to... was it somewhere in Pennsylvania? She stood up. This wasn't the plane. Where was she. “Where am I?” She wondered, her heart racing. Had someone taken her off the plane and put her here, wbereever the 'here' was? Had someone found Kevin at home and taken him, and now had her here too? But something was wrong with that supposition. Wouldn't they have been guarding her. There was another thing, she was very hungry...
Of course that was a given, with all the jetsetting she was doing trying to get back to Chicago. She started walking down the corridor, which seemed to remind her of that new Star Trek series (which both Linnie and Kevin seemed to like)...

Intruder Alert!” the computer said. “Human female, Deck 2, outside Engineering.”

“Understood,” Sisko said. “Ms. Pine, you shall meet this new arrival and bring her to the bridge.”

“Yes, Captain,” Kim said.

Greg turned as he saw someone enter Engineering. It was a woman with shoulderlength bright red hair. “What is this?” she asked, looking around with her eyes wide.

“This is Engineering,” Greg said.

“Like Star Trek?” she asked.

“Exactly like Star Trek,” Greg answered. The woman looked familiar, as if he had seen her in a movie he had seen many times.

Kate wasn't sure what to believe. This boy, about Buzz's age, must have been lying. “How could it be Star Trek? It's just a story!” But then she wouldn't have believed that she would have left her youngest son home alone, while she went to France, either. She then saw something near that tank, thing' in the centre of the room. “R2D2? But he's from Star Wars.” The apparent 'droid' beeped, sounding exactly like Star Wars. She fainted.

Kim entered Engineering to see Ashoka and Greg carrying the woman out, meeting them at the door. “What happened?” she asked.

“She fainted,” Greg answered.

“It must have been a great shock!” Kim said. “Let's get her to sickbay.”

“Sure,” Greg said.

“Pine to Sisko, meet us in Sickbay...”

Kate awoke again, and saw a bald man wearing a blue uniform of some sort leaning over her. She sat upright. “What's going on?” She looked to her right, and saw someone who looked like Donald Trump, and a guy who looked like some kind of reptile, being held in what looked like a cage made of blue bones...

“This may sound strange,” an African-American man with a goatee and wearing a uniform similar to the other man. “But you are now on a starship, approximately twenty light years from Earth.”

A spaceship, twenty lightyears from Earth? “That's impossible!”

“Not impossible, just very unlikely. I'm Captain Benjamin Sisko. What's your name.”

“Kate McCallister.”

“Welcome aboard the USS Defiant, Kate.” Captain Sisko paused, then said. “Computer, identify character. Kate McCallister.”

“Character?” Kate asked.

Affirmative,” a voice came out of no where.

'Definitely, like Star Trek,' Kate thought.

Kate McCallister, the mother of Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone films,” the computer said.

Some thoughts connected in Kate's mind. “So, I'm on a starship, like the Enterprise, and you think I'm from a series of movies?”

“That is essentially it. Everyone aboard this ship is from a reality which is fictional to at least someone else. For nearly the past day, a different person has appeared very hour,” Sisko said.

Kate thought for a moment. “So, more people will come. But it's unlikely that I would see Kevin, or the rest of my family again.”

“We're heading towards Earth. We hope that we'll find answers there,” Sisko said.

Kate nodded. “I need to think.”

“Sure,” Sisko said. “But, you're welcome to come to the Mess Hall, where most of the people currently are.”

“Sure,” Kate said.

Of course, Trump remembered his cameo in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, as such he recognised Kate as soon as she was brought in. He was also reconsidering his 'alliance' with Dukat, given what Sisko had been saying...
