Not very good when taken out of context.
In Australia there are 900 divorces every week! Dreams shattered and hopes unfulfilled.
We need to make sense of what Paul was saying.
Three different relationships.
Husbands and wives
Children
Masters and Slaves
It doesn't say; 'Wives, obey your husband'.
Submitt - recognise some authority in the relationship.
'As is fitting in the LORD' - recognise that the LORD has greater authority.
vs 19
A husband needs to be loving of his wife. A reciprocal unselfish love. Don't be harsh.
vs 21
Don't embitter children.
vs 22
Follow instruction - a higher authority - the LORD.
vs 23 - 25
Whatever you do.
God is supplying our needs. We are responsible to Him.
The provision should be adequate.
Ephesians 6:8
Ensuring that family relationships are strengthened.
How do I respond when I am under authority.
How do I respond when I have authority.
How do I respond to God's authority.
I will be under authority in a responsible way.

The Federalists attempt to denounce that rhetoric as 'unhelpful'. After-all the United States had always been welcoming to those who wanted to immigrate there, they said. (Not entirely true, but not entirely false either).
But it is the Union of Rationally thinking Americans that oppose the Democratic-Republicans the most. They agree on some things, but the Rationalists are more pragmatic. Non-whites can come, but they have to assimilate (for instance).
The Federalists are continuing to lose support, with President Malcolm Scott seen as an ineffective buffoon. An attempt at renegotating trade barriers with Quebec had fallen through early in the year.

In the lead up to the Populist victory the next year, famine hits many parts of England hard. Protests against the Corn Laws occur outside Westminster.

After the Inauguration there are protests in Washington on every weekend, regarding this issue or that issue. These include demands for President St. John to step down and/or be impeached and convicted.
Congress debates the merits of whether to investigate the Presidential electon or not.
The East Coast Communists continue demands for change. Indeed, there are many incidents of sabotage at major mines... The National Guard is called out at many locations. The attempts of strikes aren't tolerated.
By the end of June, there are uprisings in various places. Most prominent of these is in Pittsburgh...
In the South, the Klan terrorises many African American communities.
Antisemitism continues to rise, particularly in California and New York.
The Mexican civil war continues.
The South American war continues.
Europe
The War in Europe stalemates in trench warfare. This especially occurs in eastern France.
By the end of june, the Germans are considering a way to break that stalemate. A movement through Belgium...
It is a different story on the Eastern Front. Germany pushes the Russians back into their own territory.
Spain declares neutrality in the war.

In various places, colonisation continues.
In Tanganyika British forces make gains against the German garrisons.

Despite the Russian declaration of neutrality, The Raj moves forces into Afghanistan 'just in case'.

In related news, Alfed Deakin, Premier of Victoria, holds a speach in the town of Shepparton, regarding whether the various British Dominions and Colonies in the Australasia-Pacific region would need to join in a Confederation in order to better defend themselves against Germany, or Russia if they were to attack.

We need to invest in our relationships. Especially with God.

Don't drift away.

A set of ideas which might rob us of what we have in Christ.
Christ and Christ alone is what we need to have our faith in.
Not Christ and something else!
All 'New Age' philiosphies are centred on Mankind.
We are influenced by outside influences.

Continue in Christ, rooted in Him. We need to be built up continually.
vs 9, 10
We have fullness in Christ. We are established in Him.
Col 1:19
Fullness of God in Jesus.

We are complete in Him.
Christ is bigger than your inadequacies and failings. We are complete in Him, we need nothing more. Jesus has taken everything on Him.
