Avengers: Infinity
War
The
third Avengers
film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Thanos goes about
gathering the Infinity Stones in pursuit of his genocidal plan.
Power. The Power Stone, is obtained in backstory. (Did the Guardians
tell Thor where it was bestowed, or did they try to get into contact
with the Nova Corps, and he found out that way?) Space. The
Tesseract. Loki did save it before Surtur destroyed Asgard, but that
doesn't save him from Thanos. A rather effective scene. Thanos saying
“No resurrections this time” is rather impactful...
Reality.
The Aether, which Asgard had sent to the Collector. But the reality
appears to be that wasn't effective enough. It's certainly a painful
reality for Peter Quill, when Gamora is captured by Thanos as a
result! The scenes in (what's left of) the Collector's base on
Knowhere were also very effective (especially at showing Quill's
anguish). Soul. Of course, Peter would be more anguished when he
finds out what had happened next. The Soul Stone requiring a
sacrifice to gain is very effectively portrayed...
Time.
The Eye of Aggamotto, which Dr. Strange is sworn to protect. But time
was running out from the time when Banner landed in the Sanctum.
Everything the Avengers were doing after this was simply delaying the
inevitable. (Especially after a misunderstanding causes a fight
between the Avengers and the Guardians on Titan...) Mind. Vision. It
all comes down to an endgame in Wakanda as they try to protect
Vision. The battle in Wakanda was portrayed rather well, but it all
comes to naught, as Thanos achieves his goal. 9.25/10.
