Forbidden Planet – After
Action Report
C-57D
Two days after leaving Altair,
Commander Adams had yet to complete his After-Action Report on what had
occurred. He had begun it many times. All of them commended his fallen officers
for their service. But he didn’t know how to go about describing what had occurred.
Ancient machinery capable of creating monstrous entities seemed absurd. Then
there were the parallels with various classical pieces of literature.
He had just finished reading The
Tempest, which, like the rest of William Shakespeare’s works, was stored in
C-57D’s electronic library. It almost seemed as if the Bard was
prescient. (But he considered that to be absurd also.) At least Altaira hadn’t
said “O brave new world that has such people in it!”
At that moment, Altaira came
over. “You’re still stumped?” she asked.
“Yes. I’ve never had a problem
like this before.”
“Maybe you need to think
outside the box,” she said.
“It certainly was a unique
situation,” Adams conceded. While Humanity had discovered other sapient
species, none were like the Krell.
