Following
reports that there are inefficiencies in many Government departments, the Prime
Minister states that they are inaccurate.
A split
occurs in the Protecteurs du Sang Québécois early in the year. Those who
find the heroin trade abhorrent split from the main group forming Les Fils du Saint-Laurent
(Sons of the Saint Lawrence). They continue their other activities. The two
groups have started to fight each other occasionally by the end of the year.
United
States
Francophobia
continues to rise. Tensions between Washington and Paris reach a boiling point.
Tensions
with Mexico also rise regarding their intervention in Nicaragua. (see below)
San
Francisco is devastated by an earthquake on April 18th. After the
immediate relief effort, both the Federal Government and the California State
Government offer their support in recovery.
The
Democrats increase their vote share in the Midterms.
A
proposal to add Indian Territory to Oklahoma is defeated in Congress by a
supermajority of votes.
Despite
overall Francophobia, Francophone communities in Louisiana remain unmolested.
Mexico
Communist
uprisings continue to occur in various places. One of them in Guanajuato
manages to raid a silver mine and they distribute the funds to impoverished
workers.
Central
America
In
Nicaragua, uprisings against the American and British presence continue.
However, it becomes obvious to the latter that Mexico is assisting them.
Despite
the tensions, work on the Canal is proceeding on schedule.
South
America
Spanish
immigration to Argentina continues to rise, with Buenos Aries receiving the
most.
Tensions
between Brazil and Colombia continue to rise. Peru offers to mediate between
them.
Africa
Communist
uprising in Tunis.
American
exploitation in Liberia and Senegal continues to intensify.
Negotiations
between Britain and Portugal regarding a Cape to Cairo railway remain stalled.
The Cape
Colony gains Constituent Kingdom Status as the Kingdom of South Africa.
Europe
Britannia
Support
for Irish Home Rule continues to grow, but notably not in Belfast and the
nearby counties, where Protestant communities are wary of the Catholic majority
in Ireland. There are counter demonstrations throughout the year. But there is
some disagreement on whether to pursue Home Rule within the United Kingdom, or
to gain Constituent Kingdom Status.
Western
Europe
Speculation
increases about Boulanger following in Napoleon’s footsteps yet again. He steps
up his anti-America. It’s only a matter of time before war breaks out.
The
Spanish Civil War continues. The Portuguese maintain their claim on Galicia,
while the British continue to support this (despite their ongoing disputes in Africa).
Asia
INC
members who are influenced by foreign agents intensify their advocacy for
independence.

Alexander
Draper entered the farm house with a telegram from his sister, Elizabeth, who
had gone over to assist in the relief efforts in San Francisco after the
earthquake.
“You
heard from her?” his wife, Agnes, asked.
“Yes.
She says that she’s still busy helping patients recover.”
“So,
it’s a while before she’ll be back here.”
“It will
be,” Alexander said with a sigh. “And we don’t know if war will break out
before she returns to Oceania.
They
then prayed for her safety.
