The Twenty Second Day of Isolation

Twenty Second Day – Another Friday. Not only would I have been volunteering at the op shop, I would have been at the Zoo also. Helping out with the Giraffe encounter, where the guests get to go up close to the Giraffe and feed them carrots. (A carrot to a Giraffe is like chocolate is to us, so it’s ‘tongue territory’ as one keeper put it. One has to be quick to avoid the saliva. But there is hand sanitiser available). The Zoo has put up a video on their YouTube channel as a virtual encounter, so that’s good.
Silent Extinction – only 70000 left in the wild, mainly due to habitat loss as competition rises with herdspeople as human populations increase. It’s the Rhinos and Elephants getting all the press, but the Giraffe, not so much.
