Designated Survivor – A Day in the White House
It was calm as Chief of Staff Emily Rhodes arrived at the
White House shortly before sunrise. But she knew it would be hectic later. It
always was. It was exhausting, but working for the American people meant that
it was worth it. As she entered her office, her aide, Sasha, gave her a
clipboard. “Some last minute changes this morning,” she explained.
“Thanks, Sasha.” Emily looked over the schedule as she
logged into her computer. There were only minor changes.
Seth Wright didn’t really expect anyone to be in his
office. Other than that ongoing investigation into the First Lady’s family’s
affairs, there wasn’t anything too controversial. “Tiffany?”
Tiffany Gimble got out his chair in an all business
manner. “You look like you saw a ghost.”
“I don’t really expect to see reporters in my office first
thing in the morning,” Seth responded. He supposed that after the response her
exclusive on the President’s recent trip to Afghanistan had received she was
eager for more.
“I’m the only one?”
“This early?” Tiffany asked.
“Yes. The only other one is Abe Leonard.”
“Abe Leonard?” Tiffany asked, with annoyance. “He may
have two Pulitzers, but he’s a has been.”
“I’ll be sure not to quote you on that.”
