Psalm
8 – Praising God
1 Lord,
our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You
have set your glory
in the heavens.2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?[c]
in the heavens.2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?[c]
5 You
have made them[d] a
little lower than the angels[e]
and crowned them[f] with glory and honor.6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their[g] feet:7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
and crowned them[f] with glory and honor.6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their[g] feet:7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
What

Matthew
21:15, 16
5 But
when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful
things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts,
“Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.

Psalm
1 – Blessing the Righteous
Psalm
1
1 Blessed
is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not
so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For
the Lord watches over the way of the
righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
How
do we meditate on God's Word day and night?
How
do we delight in the law of the Lord?
Psalm
150 – Everything Praises Him
Praise
God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
praise him in his mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
Praise
the Lord.
Are
we supposed to praise God at all times? Isn't that unrealistic?
Ephesians
5:19,20
19 speaking
to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing
and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always
giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians
3:16, 17
16 Let
the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and
admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns,
and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your
hearts.17 And
whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name
of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
How
are we to make music to the Lord?
Psalm
91 – Trusting God
1 Whoever
dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely
he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
9 If
you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because
he[b] loves
me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
What
are the reasons that we don't have to fear?
Are
we living in the presence of the most high?
