“So, what sort of band is the Spiral anyway?” Shaggy
asked.
“Grunge.”
“Interesting. I haven’t listened to much of that. My
sound is more, classic rock.”
“That’s cool,” Trent said as he stepped off the stairs.
Jane emerged into the attic. She shone the flashlight
around. “Coast is clear,” she said.
Fred followed her up. “Cool! But there is a lot of junk
here.”
“Yes. If there are people here, they’re not in the attic.
I can’t hear anyone.”
“We still have to move around, look for clues.”
“Of course.”
Daria looked into another bedroom. Empty. It was as bare
as the other room. “We’re not getting anywhere here,” she said.
“It tells me something,” Velma said.
“Which is?”
“That there aren’t all that many people living here.”
“Only one or two?” Daria asked.
“Yes,” Velma said.
“I agree,” Daphne said as she came up to the other two.

Excerpt from: Sixteenth Doctor Adventures
She had an idea. It was risky,
but what else was new? She accessed a program unused since the Time War.
The TARDIS gave a sound of
uncertainty.
“I don’t have much choice,”
the Doctor said and she twirled a pigtail.
The TARDIS seemed to calm and
the screen said TARDIS External Electromagnetic Pulse online.
‘Now, I don’t want it to
affect the town, just the building,’ the Doctor thought and she laid in the
parameters for the pulse.
After a few moments, she and
the TARDIS were ready.
“Now!” she said as she pressed
a key.
Anyone directly outside the
TARDIS (and looking at the Police Box exterior) would have been blinded by the
flash from the lamp that ensued.
Xavier was still struggling
against the drones when they suddenly sparked and stopped working. “Huh?” Not
one to look the gift horse in the mouth, he then ran off.
Pulse complete, the
screen said. ‘Of course, Xavier could be anywhere,’ the Doctor thought. She
directed the scanner to scan outside and saw that the approaching UNIT forces
were unaffected. ‘Good.’ She grabbed the sonic and left to search for Xavier.
Xavier saw that whatever was
generating the illusions was also deactivated. He came to the elevator and that
it was out of commission also. “Of course!” he said, He would have to use the
stairs, but at least the TARDIS was on a lower level. ‘But which one?’
The Doctor started climbing
the stairs. ‘Xavier was on the top floor, but he might be looking for the
TARDIS on a lower floor…’ She knew there was a chance that they could miss each
other.
