Lorca has some means to stop it getting into the fortune cookies.
(And had figured out by trial and error how much a Tribble could eat
before it reproduces)
Spore Drive
As noted in the review, it fails in some way. After the war,
Starfleet assumes it not worth the risk of what occurred on the Glenn
happening again. (Over eleven decades later, Janeway hasn't got the
clearance to know about it, and the Borg hadn't assimilated anyone
who does, so Seven doesn't know either. Maybe. Or Voyager
tried and found it similar to what really happened in
Threshold.)
Discovery
as a new ship?

bit difficult to tell the difference between a new
ship and one that had been recently refitted.
