Early in the year, Patagonia gains complete independence from the
United Kingdom. However this proves to be a mistake. Argentina still
had claims over most of Patagonia from the end of World War II, when

The invasion occurs later in the year, and Patagonia is caught off

In Northern Ireland, the tensions simmering under the surface
explode, beginning the euphemistically titled 'Troubles'. Future
historians would be hard pressed to identify any one trigger point,
but most would point to a mass shooting by a Catholic gunman in a
Protestant neighbourhood of Derry/Londonderry as the 'official'
start.
In London, Bonfire Night celebrations turn ugly after the parades
turn into demonstrations against the Government's inaction regarding
Argentina's invasion of Patagonia and their perceived ineptitude in
dealing with the situation in Northern Ireland.
