A Different Look at 1111

Daria and Jane were hanging out in the Morgendorffer's kitchen.

“So, Daria, remember you said a few months ago that the previous owner had an 'interesting' aunt living in the room that is now yours?” Jane asked.

Daria wondered what Jane was on about. “So?” She asked.

“So, have you wondered what previous owners this house has had?” Jane asked.

Some thoughts connected in Daria's mind. “Actually, I think one of the previous owners was a stage magician.”

Jane was surprised. “Really? What makes you think that?”

Daria got out of the seat. “I'll show you,” she said. She walked over to the internal door closest to the external door.

“Okay,” Jane said, wondering what Daria was up to. “Did the magician leave something in the garage?”

“Not in the garage. Though the garage is part of it,” Daria said enigmatically.

“What are you getting at, Daria?” Jane asked as she joined her friend near the door.

Daria opened the door. “You see the garage right?” she said.

“Yeah?” Jane said, still wondering what Daria was getting at.

Daria closed the door, and opened it again a second later.

“No difference,” Jane said.

Daria closed the door again “Wait for it!” she said.

Jane then could hear some rumbling beneath the floor. “What is that?” she asked.

“Wait for it,” Daria said. The rumbling continued for a few more seconds and then there was a thump behind the door. Daria then opened the door a third time. Instead of the garage there was a formal dining room! Daria then walked into that room.

Dumbfounded, Jane walked in after her. “Wow,” she finally said.

“Pretty much my reaction when I found it,” Daria said.

“Does the rest of the family know?” Jane asked.

“Mom does. She had the same reaction as I did. I helped move this furniture in here. Dad, is oblivious to the 'stage magic' part of it, though he knows that this room exists. Quinn is in denial about it. She wouldn't admit it, but she also knows,” Daria said.

“Ok,” Jane said.

“Of course this isn't the only part of the house that can change. There's also the basement, and some of the upstairs rooms,” Daria said.

“Wow,” Jane said again.
