Excerpt from: A Fellowship of 10

4 October 1418 SR

As they emerged from the last of the marshes they saw a line of hills in the distance to the east. The highest of them was at the right of the line and little separated from the others. It had a conical top, slightly flattened at the summit.

Excerpt from: Q Junior’s Lessons

“Janeway won’t give up, and this room is hardly defensible.”

“I just wanted to be somewhere nice.”

Janeway was closing in. She turned a corner and could hear Q Junior talking in a room nearby.

“…Why are you doing this?” she could hear him saying.

She then burst in, phaser rifle at the ready. “I ask the same question. Why?”

“You blundered into this region without looking into the history! The Uj R’baasagbr and Kaso-Dra were once allied,” Elseran explained. “Friends since First Contact. Centuries of peace. Then, just over six decades ago, the Uj R’baasagbr were betrayed!”

“Then help me and my crew restore that peace!” Janeway said.

“I wasn’t finished! Your agreement would only broaden the war! As I was saying, the Uj R’baasagbr were betrayed. Analysis of Intelligence data indicated that there was a decades long plan by many elements of the Kaso-Dra Government, that culminated in that betrayal.”

“I only have your word for that. It could just be propaganda.”

Excerpt from: Sixteenth Doctor Adventures

“Most times, the diplomacy works?” Xavier asked.

“Not really?” the Doctor admitted. “But, I have to try.”

Xavier saw something in the Doctor’s gaze that caused him to shudder, a little. ‘What have I got myself into,’ he thought again. He nodded with a gulp.

“We’re almost there.”

The Elevator arrived on the top floor. Just before the doors opened, the Doctor pressed a signal on the sonic, giving instructions to the TARDIS. She looked at Xavier. He looked as ready as he would ever be. The alarm wasn’t blaring in the corridor either. “It’s some kind of trap. They want me here now,” she said.

Xavier looked slightly more afraid, but gripped his staff with determination. He wanted to help her save the world.

She listened as she switched the sonic to echolocation mode. The office wasn’t directly ahead. “Ah ha!”

“Ah ha?” Xavier asked.

“What we’re seeing isn’t what’s actually there. It’s an illusion. Follow me closely! Listen to my footsteps. If you lose those, follow the sonic.”

“Got it.”

The Doctor walked forward two steps and heard Xavier follow her. She sent a signal on the sonic. The actual corridor curved off to the right. She started walking along, and heard Xavier follow.

In the office, the person watched the Doctor and her companion following along. He smiled. Time for a complication. He wanted to confront the Doctor on her own. He pressed a control and said. “Send more drones, separate them.”

Understood, sir.”

The Doctor heard them first. “More drones! Stay still.” she said.

“Where?” he asked.

“Ahead, to the right,” the Doctor answered. No, that wasn’t right. More were coming, from behind. “And from behind!”

“Definitely a trap,” Xavier groused.

The Doctor saw them come up and began whirling about knocking them down, as before. However, she didn’t see them coming between her and Xavier until it was too late. “No!” she cried.
