Excerpt from: The Loneliness of Alex
“What is it about?” Quinn asked.
“Um, a group of teenagers find out that they have powers.
The lead, Usagi, is a girl who leads the group despite her emotions
overwhelming her,” Stacy said quickly.
“Sounds, interesting,” Quinn said with a slight giggle.
“Yeah,” Tiffany agreed.
“So, they use the powers to help people?” Quinn asked.
“Mostly by battling those who are up to no good,” Stacy
began. She than gave an overview of the first series. She then handed the tape
to Quinn.
“So, this is Usagi?” she said pointing to the picture on
the case.
“Yes,” Stacy answered.

Excerpt from: The Engineer and the Time Lady
“Don't the shuttles have transporters and be
controlled remotely?”
“That can work. Their functions can be controlled from
the Bridge,” Alpha said. She turned to Aialah. “Start up the Calgary.”
“Aye, Alpha,” Aialah said.
She then turned to the Pilot. “Program her to take up a
geosynchronous orbit above the 74 degrees west longitude.”
“Aye.”
“Shuttle is ready for launch,” Aialah reported.
“Launch!”
Nina watched as Octavius continued to climb the building.
“I’m sure ‘Spidey’ will be here soon,’ she thought.
“Shuttle is in position,” Alpha reported.
“Energize!”
Nina materialised at the top of the building. She looked
down. She saw that Octavius was still quite low down, but she didn't see
Spider-Man. “OK, beam me to a floor which is a few higher than Octavius'
position.”
“Sure.”
She materialised in an office, startling the various
workers.
“Sorry!” she said, as she noticed the vibrations caused
by Octavius' actuators piercing brickwork. “He's close!” she said. “Evacuate!”
she said.
Then Octavius came by the window. She tapped the
commbadge. “Up another three levels.”
“Acknowledged.”

Merlinus checked his pigeon cote on the outskirts of Londinium.
He saw that one bird had flown in sometime in the day. He signed her and she
hopped onto his hand giving him to look at the scroll tied to her leg. He
immediately recognised Nimue’s sigel. He untied and opened it, placing the
pigeon back in the cote. He quickly read that Nimue was on her way back with
Katherine Robertius. That was good news. The situation had escalated in Londinium
since he had sent Nimue to the west.

Excerpt from: Daria and Change
She didn’t know why she and her sister had to come to
school together. People were bound to ask questions she didn’t want to answer. She
resisted the urge to sigh. She needed to give off a certain vibe, as it were. She
noticed several other teens nearby.
“Hi! You're cool. What's your name?” a pig-tailed brunette
asked.
“Quinn Morgendorffer,” she responded in an unflappable
tone.
“Cool name,” another girl responded.
Quinn scrutinised her, she was one to keep an eye on.
“Will you go out with me?” a boy asked.
‘That was quick,’ Quinn thought. “Maybe,” she said playfully.
Daria appraised the school as Principal showed the new
students around. She didn’t like that the football team was prominent. She did
see other sports being spruiked, but not many.
