“It’s going to be a difficult journey,” Laura said in a
similar tone.
“Go around the crew. Try to encourage them. I will
address them in a meeting in an hour.”
“Understood.”
The meeting turned out to be an hour and fifteen minutes
later, as the sun of that world was starting to set.

“Computer, Tell me the location of Commander Data.”
“Lieutenant Commander Data now located in Holodeck 4.” A pointer showed up on the panel.
“And as you see, sir. It’s pointing you that way,” the Ensign said.
“Thank you.”
Riker entered the holodeck and saw that it was far more advanced that any of the ones on the Hood and other Excelsior class ships he had been on. As he crossed a stream he noted that one wobbled. ‘Wow,’ he thought. Yet more sophistication. He heard someone trying to whistle ‘Pop goes the Weasel,’ and saw Data leaning against a tree.
He completed the tune.
“Marvellous. How easily humans do that. I still need much practice,” Data saod.
“There are some puzzles down on the planet that the Captain wants answered. He suggests that I take you with me on the away team that I'll be leading.”
“I shall endeavour to function adequately, sir.”
“Yes. When the captain suggested you, I looked up your record,” Riker said,
“Yes, sir. A wise procedure, sir, always.”
“Then your rank of Lieutenant Commander is honorary?”
“No, sir. Starfleet class of ’43. Honours in probability mechanics and exobiology,” Data explained.
“Your file says that you’re an.”
“Android. Correct, sir. Does that trouble you?”

“I don’t know to what you’re referring to,” Charlemagne
said.
“So, it is what it appears to be. That I’ve been
kidnapped from where I was?”
“You’re not the first,” the one Charlemagne had referred
to as Bond said.
“It happened to you to?” Sam asked.
“You would be the eleventh person to arrive in this town,”
the third, McCoy, answered.
“Fill me in,” Sam said in a resigned tone.
Once Sam had been brought up to speed, she explained who
she was, leaving out any explanation of the Stargate Program (other than
explaining what Ascension was).
McCoy knew that Colonel Carter was hiding something.

Quinn then read the back blurb. It was pretty much what
Stacy had said. “Maybe we can watch some episodes this weekend?” she suggested.
“That would be great!” Stacy exclaimed.
“Or now....?” Tiffany asked.
“There will be more time on the weekend,” Quinn
explained. “Besides. We're going to talk about what else we'll be doing. We
can't spend most of the first meeting watching tv.”
“So, Fashion?” Stacy asked.
“Yes,” Quinn responded. She took out a copy of the latest
Waif from her backpack. “We will discuss what the various magazines say
is 'hot,' and see what makes the most sense.”
