Psalm 148
'Praise Him You Heavens': Great in Power - Hillsong 'My Jesus, My Saviour': My Jesus My Saviour Lyrics
Genesis 4:1 - 16
'The Splendour of the King': Chris Tomlin - How Great is Our God (Live) 'Thank you for the Cross': Worthy Is The Lamb | Hillsong (Featuring Miriam Webster)
Genesis 4:1 - 16
Abel - Shepherd
Cain - Crop farmer
God regarded Abel over Cain for a reason.
The Law cannot be applied retroactively to this situation.
It was about Cain's attitude.
Cain's Anger - He was visibly upset.
What was Cain's attitude?
- God knew what it was.
- He was encouraging Cain to take the right path.
The Bible - God's word
- A warning! Be on your guard. Sin is at your door.
vs 9
God asked a rhetorical question.
- He gave Cain a chance to come to Him in repentance.
- Cain straight out lied to God!
- "Am I my brother's keeper?"
- An insult directed in Abel's direction.
- There was no repentence in Cain's heart.
Hosea 14: 1 - 2
We are called to have a repentent attitude.
Sin is lurking at the door.
God's Punishment of Cain.
- An Extension of the Judgement on Adam and Eve.
Cain is selfish, but God shows him mercy and grace.
- No where is that mercy and grace shown than at the Cross.
Self centredness
- Sin lurking at the door!
'Third Day - Communion'
Is there an attitude in your life you have to get rid of?
'Your Grace is enough': Chris Tomlin - Your Grace is Enough - Lyrics
