Worldwide
Through
May and June the discovery of magic as a result of the Sumerian dig
begins to shake the various societies around the world.
The
Diu Disaster is the first indication to the various governments that
something is amiss, that the paradyne of what people thought was
reality would be shifted. Various governments would also turn their
attention to what had been found in that Sumerian Library.

energies",....

Natural History.

the “new age of magic” entails.
In
early July in Chicago, one of the minor Mob Bosses gains access to a
Tablet, and soon another gains access to a copy of a Sumerian
Incantation.
Within

about the situation with the Sumerian dig.

Sumerian magic.

Nazis move up their invasion of Poland. The invasion occurs on the
5th of August.
Soviet
Union
So
do the Soviets.
United
Kingdom
Early
in May, Chamberlain receives a telegram stating what had been
discovered in Mesopotamia. He asks for further information. Soon,
some of the Tablets begin arriving at the British Museum, and
Chamberlain informs academics at the University College London of the
discoveries. (And also at Cambridge and Oxford.)
Soon,
Chamberlain orders that more information on the Tablets be provided.
However this order is intercepted by agents of various other European
nations...
Chamberlain
is informed of the developments in Sweden and Greece (see below). He
also informs Churchill of the discoveries (but it seems that Winston
already knew...) The day after this he informs the entire Cabinet.
In
mid May a student is found dead on the edge of the University in
Oxford. On the 21st May, the Times
reports on the discovery in Mesopotamia. (There had been a leak
somewhere.) Panic ensues in London when more information is
leaked... Search begins for a safe and secure place to experiment
with the incantations... There is debate in Parliament about whether
to suppress the news...
In
early June, some of curators at the Museum begin to panic about where
to store the Tablets. (Enough have been sent that there are concerns
about space.) Soon afterwards, recurring thefts of the Tablets begin
to occur. After this it is decided that a camp will be set up on a
Scottish moor, for experimenting with the incantations.
However...
At the camp on the Scottish moor, (near Inverness), there is a
massive explosion, as two Tablets' 'effects' interact...
Mid
June: Local officials are baffled after a rain of frogs apppears in
Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, defying explanation,...
Early
July
Chamberlain
receives a more in depth report on the Diu Disaster, and the response
to the problems it has caused.
There
is an attempt by foreign agents to steal some of the Sumerian Tablets
from the British Museum, but the attempt isn't successful.
Britain
announces that they and France will declare war on Germany if Poland
is invaded.'=
Sweden
In Stockholm, Swedish historians begin to critically examine various
Sagas...
Following
clues hidden in various Sagas, archaeologists begin a dig at a lake
near Stockholm where Viking funerals had taken place.

Mussolini
decides to hold off on joining with Germany in any conflict...
In
Mid June, Mussolini receives a preliminary report on what is known
about the 'effects' of the Tablets.
One
of the planes carrying the Tablets goes missing over the Adriatic
(near Brindisi)...
In
mid July, a fishing vessel in the Adriatic Sea drags up a mysterious
object that is glowing (and which Mussolini is soon informed about).
Greece
In
Athens, a group of Greek Historians begin to look into the records to
see if there were 'overlooked' magical events. They find a reference
in a Byzantine era archive to 'ward stones'.
Wreckage from the plane carrying the missing Tablets washes up on
Ithaca.
France
Pierre
Plantard proclaims himself the last scion of the Merovingian Dynasty,
ties stretching to Dagobert II , much to the interest of Nazi
leadership,...
A
plane a carrying one of the archaeologists from the Sumerian dig
disappears in over the country in late May. A search begins, but is
soon abandoned.
Switzerland
In Geneva, there is a report of a 'confused British man' wandering
around... Those searching for Roger Corrington begin to search there.
Africa
Egypt
In
Cairo, a group of Egyptologists meet to discuss the recent
discoveries in Mesopotamia, and whether the Egyptians had similar
capabilities. They decide to go to Luxor for further investigation.
However,
one of them is murdered on the ship a few days into the journey. The
murder isn't solved before they arrive in Luxor.
In
Luxor, Heiroglyphs describing an early Pharoah defeating
'strangeness' in Mesopotamia are found.
A
French archaeologist reports the destruction of the City of Tanis,
Egypt by a supernatural sandstorm, apparently triggered by the
Sumerian tablets,....
Edwina
Corrington is sighted in Alexandria.
Magical
sandstorms occur throughout the Sahara from early June onwards.
(Beginning near Agadir.)
Asia
Mesopotamia
In
Mesopotamia, a Sumerian Library is discovered. A veritable treasure
trove of Cuneiform tablets. Some of these are soon translated.
However, it is soon found that something is different about these
Tablets. When one of the archaeologists dusts off one of them it
glows briefly before a whirlwind appears. The next day, more tablets
glow and a rainstorm occurs...
The
archaeologists are freaked out, but curiosity overcomes this, and
they continue to investigate. They soon find that copied inscriptions
still have the 'effects'.
11th May
Rodger
Corrington, one of the archaeologists, is surprised when his wife,
Edwina, suddenly arrives at the dig site.
“Edwina!
Why are you here?”
“Listen
to me, Edgar! This dig needs to stop, before something absolutely
terrible is discovered.”
However, Corrington doesn't listen to his wife's warning and
discovers a tablet larger than any other others the next day. Then
strange energies surround the dig site.
17th
May
Edwina Corrington vanishes, and her husband is found in a coma near
an unopened door...
The Dig goes on regardless. Corrington is sent to a hospital in
Baghdad, before being sent on a plane to England (but see above).
Attempts are made to open that door, but they fail. Experimentation
with the 'effects' of the Tablets stop after there's an explosion
near the dig site. As a result, the Tablets begin to be sent to
Britain. (But see above regarding one of the planes...
Edwina Corrington and her two accomplices are cornered in Baghdad.
However, she activates one of the tablets and teleports away...
In
mid June, a bandit band attacks the Sumerian Library dig site. They
seize a large number of Tablets and withdraw.
Elsewhere in Mesopotamia, an inscription referring to a 'time of
great change' is discovered.
Japan
The
powers that be in Japan also gain an interest in the Tablets.
Thailand
The
King takes interest in the news from the Middle East.
India
Diu
Disaster; The occurrence of spells and incantations triggers ghosts
to be invoked in Diu, India, forcing the evacuation of the region.
Oceania
The
Australian and New Zealand Governments also gain an interest in the
magical phenomena.
